The gift was not appreciated Dec 19, 2009 The person I gave this product as a gift never even used it outside of his house, saying it was too ugly and impractical (i.e. thick).
I happened to like it, but I wasn't the reason why I bought it, hence the 3 stars.

Smooth writing, smooth mechanics Oct 27, 2009 I had extremely high expectations when I picked out this pen.
Knowing the quality of Cross and owned a few before this purchase, I went to look for a pen that was perfect for me and this was exactly that.
My hands are of normal size (for lack of a better description: not big like a construction worker's, or small like a lady's hands). This pen had the right thickness, it does not feel cramped (small) or heavy (and bulky).
I was researching different ink-writing instruments. Many are outrageously expensive and they do not fit my preferences. It all came down to this particular one. I wanted one that is polished and smooth, has a touch of gold trim, and quality (durability) to it.
The mechanics of the pen (twisting the pen to release or retract the ball-point tip) is very smooth. It has quality to it, not flimsy and dull like a click-pen. You could compare it to twisting the volume-knob on a high-quality audio receiver. One could describe it as having a small resistance when turning-the-knob but stays put when released.
I'm planning to buy another or two as a backup as soon as Amazon.com ships it themselves. I know pen companies changes their style (pen models) all the time.
Great gift item Sep 21, 2008 This is a beautiful pen for ones ownself or giving as a gift. Specially because it is not thin like the other Cross pens; its grip and feel is perfect. Makes a very good gift item.

Nice pen May 11, 2008 I like the shape and finish of this pen. The body is metal, I checked it with an ohm meter. Cross provides a lifetime warranty on its pens, so I don't know what reviewer "jigglypuff" is complaining about.
My only complaint is the quality of the refill. I would rate Cross's ball point refill as "very good." It is consistent and fairly smooth. In my opinion, a premium pen should have an "excellent" refill, and very smooth.

As good as a pen can get Dec 06, 2007 This pen is simply about as good as a writing instrument can get. The weight, balance and feel are perfect. The outside is coated with a finely textured surface that feels great and acts to keep the pen firmly in your hand while writing. The mechanical actions is as you would expect from Cross, excellent. It is also not that "fat" around. It is slightly larger than a typical slim pen but nothing like the real "fat-boys" out there.
