This fan really moves a lot of air, and without too much noise. After seeing this fan at a friends house, we had to have one. Great for moving air on the deck in the summer heat.

I've purchased Patton high velocity fans for decades. Until recent years, Patton was always an American made product, but now they are made overseas (probably in China) and the materials are poor in comparison to the original American made product. The fan works fine, but the variable speeds produced by the fan's motor, don't really vary very much at all. The materials the fan is made of are much lighter in comparison to the original made product.
Outstanding Experience May 05, 2010
I purchased this item from Amazon and in the first trial run I found the fan vibrated terribly on high speed. It could walk itself across the floor. So I notified Amazon in case I needed to take advantage of their excellent warranty service but tried contacting Patton first to see if they might pay for a local shop to make repairs. They would not but IMMEDIATELY ordered a replacement fan for me, without question. When they emailed the shipping notification I saw that they had shipped a 20 inch fan instead of an 18 inch. Where I will place this fan will not permit a 20 in round fan so I immediately called Patton. They said to simply refuse the fan when it arrived. They were out of stock on the 1803 during the winter and simply substituted a more expensive item. They told me to call them back nearer to summer when the 1803 would be back in stock.
I refused the 20 inch model as instructed and a couple months later called about the 1803. They were in stock and one was on the way to me within 1 day. It arrived in just a few days and works great.
This fan is a real air mover. It replaces a 40 year-old Toastmaster 20 inch box fan with metal blades that moved a LOT of air. When it died I tried an Air King box fan but its wimpy plastic blades were absolutely useless. I decided to try this Patton with metal blades and I am completely satisfied with its ability to move a volume of air comparable to my ancient fan. I expect a good summer with this Patton fan and if should die prematurely, I know I can depend completely on Pattons good (and courteous)customer service honoring their warranty.
I consider this an outstanding experience. I don't mind the original item arriving defective. The outstanding customer service outweighs everything, by far, and I surely appreciate it. As an added note, Amazon was fully prepared to replace the item if Patton did not, so that reinforces my already high opinion of Amazon support. Good customer service is a near dead aspect of companies today and it is genuinely heartening to find two who still know the value of taking care of those who pay for their profits!

This item was supposed to have some marks or blemishes but other than the box being a little beat up, it was perfect, just like new. It was a super deal.

Awesome fan!! Our garage door technicians LOVE the fan. It is fairly compact and has a lot of "wind" for the size!!! (A customer owned one of the Patton fans and let them use it in lieu of the box fan. They were so impressed that told me about it and I immediately ordered one)!! So yeah, GO PATTON!!! (Anything to keep "my guys" calm and COOL!!
